Vintage Landers – Frary and Clark No. 8 universal bread maker. Landers – Frary and Clark was a leading housewares manufacturer established in 1865 in New Britain Connecticut. For the next 100 years it produced thousands of items ranging from mouse traps to electric ranges. It was estimated that six in ten households owned a Landers – Frary and Clark product. This bread maker is in very good condition considering it is well over 100 years old. It has good patina, and the embossing on the side of the pail is clearly visible. The inscribed writing on the crank support is a bit worn and more difficult to read. The pail has minimal rust and barely any dings. The lid has some dings and is slightly wrapped. The locking mechanisms and crank work as designed. The mounting support has some broken welds on one end; however, the welds on the other end are intact. The broken weld is shown in the last photo. The clamp that secures the unit to the tabletop is not included.
