Custom, handmade Esquire build made from old growth pine and maple from a barn and steel from the same barn's roof. Almost every part is hand-formed from scratch. 2 piece barnwood pine body, laminated quartersawn maple neck finished with rubbed-in linseed oil (Sam Maloof) for a slick satin finish. Small tight knots and nail holes present in the body. Handmade jack plate, neck plate, control plate, bridge plate, and cover plate for the bridge. Heavy '51 U neck shape with skunk stripe. Solid as a rock without a truss rod. Set up for medium action with 14-56 nickel wound strings. Naturally resonant and acoustically loud - good for unplugged practice. Brass saddles and ebony nut to tame brightness. Scratch-built esquire style pickup similar to Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pickup. Reads ~9.4K. .22 shell casings used as ball end retainers in the body.
Standard Esquire Wiring. Front Position Tone Bypass - Most powerful and brightest. Middle position Standard control with tone knob activated - most versatile. Back position bass pass - lowest output and good for songs such as "I Walk the Line". Great for anything needing a Telecaster or Esquire sound - Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, Brad Paisley, and a lot of vintage and modern country, rock, etc.
