Handmade Firebird III style guitar. Neck through construction. Built almost exclusively from recycled woods and materials sourced locally. Aged to have the appearance of a barroom warrior with dents, scratches, wear, and finish damage to mimic regular hard use over years of playing rough bars, and alcohol spills mimicked on body. Massive sustain and resonance due to correct neck-through construction. SlimTaper-style neck with walnut fretboard. Truss rod works as it should - single action, but removable and reversible. Finish on neck has been dulled down for a slicker, less sticky feel. Aged hardware, except for tuners. Lightweight right angle tuners instead of imprecise original banjo-style tuners. Solid compensated bridge filed for solid G string instead of wound to improve intonation from originals. Original 3-strap button system used, allowing 2 standard positions and mariachi-style strap position like Willie Nelson. Medium action with 10-46 strings. Dual scratch-made Firebird style mini humbuckers with rough look but proper output and function. Voiced for original '60s Firebird sound. Neck position clear and warm, middle is scooped and forward, and bridge is bright and very punchy. Tight-tolerance multi-contact jack in thin body acts as kill switch when plug is inserted deep, but acts as normal when locked at 75% position. Great for country, blues, rock, and slide playing in all three positions. Bridge position is a bit of an acquired taste, as with original Firebirds, but still versatile. Beautiful clear cleans to gritty overdrive sounds great with the right settings on this guitar.
$1,000. Local pick-up preferred, or I am happy to drive a reasonable distance to meet a serious buyer halfway if you are a little further away. I would rather not deal with the hassle of the mail, but I can box it up securely (with custom plywood face protection over the long headstock) if shipping is absolutely required.
